Brenda has worked extensively with schools, teachers, parents and students in Toronto and the surrounding area over the past 25+ years. She began teaching in 1991 and has been a teacher and leader in public, private and independent sectors. During this time, Brenda has published more than 30 books and professional articles related to how students learn and how teachers can implement strategies (their tool-kit) to support their students' success in the classroom and world. Brenda has been involved in a number of school improvement projects, revamping entire systems through curricular innovation, teacher education and assessment that drives instruction. All of these accomplishments provided her with extensive knowledge and experience.
Brenda is a Reading Recovery Teacher, ELL specialist, Literacy Mentor and Educator, Author, Instructor at the University of Toronto, and past Principal (PQP1 and 2). She has a B.Ed from Western University, and a Masters of Education and PhD in Curriculum Studies and Teacher Education (specializing in literacy education) from the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education (OISE/UT), Along with her husband Ophir, she is the proud parent to three wonderful kids; her daughter Jenny, her son Mitchell and her son Benji.
